Dental Payment Plans in Chattanooga, TN
Dental care should fit your budget as well as your schedule. We work with several financing partners so cost doesn’t become the reason a problem gets worse.
How Payment Plans Work at Wilcox Family Dental
Dental Payment Plans in Chattanooga TN are not one-size-fits-all, and we don’t pretend otherwise. Some patients need to spread a single crown across a few months. Others are looking at a longer treatment plan and want to know what the monthly number looks like before they say yes. We handle both, and we’ll tell you up front which option tends to make the most sense for what you’re trying to accomplish.
Our approach is simple: before we start anything, you get a written estimate. That estimate shows what your insurance is expected to cover, what your portion would be, and what financing through one of our partners would look like if you’d rather not pay it all at once. If cost is part of how you make decisions about care, say so. We’d rather have that conversation at the front desk than after the work is done.
Dr. Joseph Rollings has practiced this way since opening the office. Patients who understand their bill, their treatment, and their options tend to follow through on care. Patients who feel rushed or surprised tend not to. We’d rather take a few extra minutes explaining the numbers than have you cancel an appointment three weeks from now because something didn’t add up.
Which Financing Partners We Work With
We offer three financing partners in-house: CareCredit, Cherry, and QuickPay. Each one works a little differently, and the best fit depends on your credit profile, the size of the treatment, and how quickly you want to pay it off.
CareCredit is the one most patients have heard of. It’s a healthcare credit line that often comes with promotional periods where you pay no interest if the balance is cleared within a set window (typically 6, 12, 18, or 24 months depending on the amount financed). If you can pay it off inside that window, it’s usually the cheapest option. If you can’t, interest accrues retroactively, so we’ll be honest with you about whether that math actually works for your situation.
Cherry is newer and tends to be friendlier for patients who want a predictable monthly payment without a hard credit pull to check eligibility. Approval is quick, and the terms are spelled out before you commit. QuickPay is our shorter-term option for patients who want to break a single procedure into a few payments over a few months without going through a third-party lender at all.
We’ll walk through all three with you and tell you which one we’d suggest based on what you’re financing. None of these are products we’re trying to sell; they’re tools that make care reachable for the people who need it.
When a Payment Plan Makes Sense (and When It Doesn't)
Financing makes sense when the treatment is necessary and waiting would make it worse or more expensive. A cracked molar that needs a crown isn’t going to heal on its own. A tooth that needs root canal therapy will keep getting worse until it’s addressed. Spreading the cost over a few months so you can move forward now is usually the right call.
Financing makes less sense when the treatment is elective and you’re not sure you want it. Cosmetic work like whitening or veneers is worth thinking through without the pressure of a payment plan in front of you. We’re not going to push you toward financing on something you’re still deciding about. The option to do nothing yet is a real option, and we’ll say so.
We also want to be honest that financing is debt. Promotional zero-interest periods only stay zero-interest if you pay them off on time. If you’re not sure you’ll be able to, a shorter plan with a smaller balance is usually safer than a longer one stretched thin. We’ll tell you what we’d choose in your spot and why.
What's Included When You Apply Through Our Office
When you decide to move forward, we handle the application process at the front desk. For CareCredit and Cherry, that means filling out a short application either on your phone or on a tablet we’ll hand you. Most decisions come back in a few minutes. You’ll know your approved amount, the term lengths available, and the monthly payment before you commit to anything.
Once you’re approved, we apply the financing directly to your treatment ledger. You don’t have to pay us and then get reimbursed; the partner pays us, and you pay the partner on the schedule you chose. Your written estimate from the front desk will already account for any insurance benefits we expect to receive, so the financed amount reflects your actual out-of-pocket portion.
If you’re partway through a treatment plan and your situation changes, tell us. We’d rather adjust the sequence (do the urgent work now, push the elective work) than have you abandon care altogether. That’s a real conversation we have with patients regularly, and there’s no judgment attached to it.
How Payment Plans Work Alongside Your Insurance
Wilcox Family Dental accepts Medicaid and all major insurance providers. For most patients, insurance covers a meaningful portion of preventive and basic restorative care, and financing covers what’s left. We file your claims for you and apply the expected insurance payment to your estimate before you ever see a financing number.
If you’re a Medicaid patient, we’ll tell you what’s covered, what isn’t, and what your real out-of-pocket would be on anything outside the covered scope. Some patients pair Medicaid coverage with a small Cherry or QuickPay plan for a single elective item rather than financing the whole treatment. That’s a perfectly reasonable way to do it, and we’ll help you figure out the split.
For more detail on what your specific plan covers, see our dental insurance page, or call the office and ask for a benefits check before you come in. We’d rather you walk in already knowing roughly what the numbers look like.
Why Transparent Payment Plans Matter for Dental Care
The reason we put this much effort into the financial side is that we’ve watched too many patients delay care because nobody sat down and explained the options. A small cavity becomes a crown. A crown becomes root canal therapy. Root canal therapy becomes an extraction. Cost is real, and pretending otherwise doesn’t help anyone.
When you have a written estimate in your hand and a financing option that fits your budget, the decision becomes about the dentistry, not the dollars. That’s the conversation we want to be having: what we see on the X-ray, what it means, and what your options are. Not whether you can afford to walk in the door.
